In December 2004, a meeting between Indonesia and Japanese government has been held. To improve investment, the governments have agreed to make a government and private forum. They make a Working Group (WG) to improve 4 fields of labor as the priority of cooperation. One of it is WG-Competitiveness in small and middle industry, and it has a Sub WG: Support Industry Promotion (SIP).
SIP is made to analyze and to improve competitiveness of support industry in Indonesia. Later on, SIP made a Support Industry Promotion Strategy which is about strategic cooperation in private-government of Indonesia and Japan. It is agreed that mold and dies industry is the basis of support industry improvement in Indonesia. As the result it's been recommended to build a Mold and Dies Association.
Based on the recommendation, the private companies decided to make Indonesia Mold & Dies Industry Association (IMDIA), with purpose to be the place for exchanging information about mold and dies and to improve mold and dies industry in Indonesia.
In October 2005, Preparation Committee is made, and on December the association is officially established under KADIN's shelter. On January 2006, all the registration process with Indonesia government is done.
All the licenses are accepted on February 2006. IMDIA's establishment event is held on February 22nd 2006 at Sari Pan Pacific Hotel, and attended by the government. Later on, there is Seminar and announcement meeting held to introducing the people. In that general meeting, the election for association's directors are made, and also the principles in association, the midterm and long term action planning. IMDIA started with 78 members.
